History : Speyfest 2002

Mak-a-Rak-it are based in the heart of Morayshire in the village of Fochabers and have been playing together since 1993.

They are a five-piece band playing traditional Scottish and Irish music and song. The band can call all the dances if required ensuring nobody is left out.

As well as the more popular dances like Strip the Willow, The Dashing White Sgt, The Gay Gordons and The Eightsome Reel, the band also play and call some not so well known dances like The Waves of Torry, Hooligan's Jig, The Seige of Ennis, The Cumberland Square and The OXO Reel.

Along side the ceilidh dance sets the band also perform " In Concert " singing and playing both traditional and contemporary folk music giving a performance ideally suited to either a folk festival concert platform or as musicians leading a session in a crowded bar room.

The band can be found playing at weddings, festivals and corporate functions throughout Scotland where the emphasis is on fun and enjoyment.
